On Master Adrian Florea
Education and pre-Qigong activities:
University of Civil Engineering, Department for Building Equipment, Bucharest, degree obtained in 1977. Between 1981 and 1996 he was involved in research in occupational safety.
Activities in Qigong and Traditional Chinese Medicine:
1976: starting out from the study and practice of the martial arts, he develops a keen interest and applies himself to a systematic study of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Qigong.
1985: starts teaching courses in Qigong and Taijiquan, within the limits allowed at the time.
March 1990: he establishes the Romanian Institute for the Development of Human Potential, in order to promote Qigong and Traditional Chinese Medicine in Romania.
October 1993, Beijing, China: he attends the First Congress of Traditional Chinese Medicine for Overseas Practitioners; presents a paper that was included in the academic circuit in the field; he becomes a full member of the China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and is awarded a certificate attesting him as a specialist in Traditional Chinese Medicine, being one of the only two participants that were granted this particular honour among the 200 participants coming from 41 countries.
1995: he reorganizes the institute as a foundation, the new name being the Romanian Qitaky Foundation - The Romanian Institute for the Development of Human Potential.
1996: in order to stimulate scientific research, he initiates a series of conferences organized under the aegis of the Foundation, bringing together specialists in conventional medicine and leading representatives of complementary medicine, in a joint effort to combine those medical orientations to the benefit of the patients. The topics of the conferences are listed below:
1996 - "Ancient and Modern Medical Practices - Implications for the Development of Future Generations"
1997 - "Tradition and Modernity in the Medicine of Relaxation and Stress Management"
1998 - "Traditional Chinese Medicine - an Ancient Science in a Modern World". This was the first edition to go international, the honorary guest being Dr. Effie Poy Yew Chow, Founder and President of the "East West Academy of Healing Arts" in San Francisco, Advisor to the US President on complementary medicine, President of all the editions of the World Qigong Congresses organized so far in the United States. On the occasion, Dr. Chow attested the existence of a new, original Qigong style, Qitaky Qigong, created by Adrian Florea.
August 1998: he becomes a member of the National Qigong Association of America.
November 1998: he attends the First International Congress of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine.
May 1999: he attends the Annual Congress of the Academy of Cybernetics "Stefan Odobleja", where he chairs a new section, "The Cybernetics of Human Energy", inaugurated that year.
June 1999: in order to become affiliated to the international organizations in the field, he establishes the Romanian Qigong Association.
August 1999, Baltimore, US: he attends the Annual Conference of the National Qigong Association of America.
November 1999, San Francisco, US: he attends the 3rd World Congress on Qigong; he is invited to be a member of the Congress panel and acknowledged as a Grandmaster and a World Qigong Federation representative. He presents a paper entitled "Divine Messages, Divine Structures" about a singular phenomenon in Romania, the Cave of the Bears, and holds a one-day Master Workshop where he introduces participants to his original style, Qitaky Qigong; he also demonstrates how this style can contribute to improving athletic performance;
April 2000, Washington, US: he attends the World Summit on Qigong, that for the first time addresses the elite of Qigong practitioners, mainly in the domain of medical Qigong. The Summit is meant to initiate a direct dialogue with the American authorities, that may be decisive in formalizing the status of Qigong in the American health insurance system and in including it in the research and development programs financed by the state.
June 2000: he organizes a new edition of the Romanian Qitaky Foundation conferences: "Qigong - Science and Lifestyle for the Third Millennium".
November 2000: he attends the Second International Congress of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine, where he makes a successful presentation of the results of research and treatment of benign breast tumors.
May 2001: he attends the 4th World Congress on Qigong. He communicates the results of research in improving intellectual capabilities by practicing this complex discipline; he also receives invitations to grant consultations and treatment in the US and Canada.
2001-2002: he opens up a new path in Romania, as he formerly did with Qigong, by delivering a set of conferences entitled "Ambientherapy - Feng Shui. The Art of Harmonizing Man with the Environment" at the "Ion Mincu" Academy of Architecture; he introduces young architects to a new vision for designing modern buildings. He also conducts a large number of applied studies in Feng Shui.
November 2002: he attends the 5th World Congress on Qigong, where he speaks about man's self-healing abilities.
Permanent activities:
he organizes regular - monthly or quarterly - beginner and advanced level courses in Qigong, courses in Chinese therapeutic massage (Tuina), nutrition and diet therapy, the therapeutic use of sexual energy, healing sounds;
he coordinates the Qitaky Qigong training sessions and self-defense courses held three times a week;
since spring 2000, when the Qitaky Diplomat Club was established, he coordinates the Qitaky Qigong classes delivered in English for members of the diplomatic corps and of the business community, both Romanian and international;
since 2001, he teaches introductory courses to Feng Shui (the art of harmonizing man with the environment);
1990 - 2002: he has attended to over 12,000 patients using the methods of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He has obtained excellent results in herpes zoster, renal and biliary calculi, ulcers, cardiovascular diseases, hepatitis A, B and C, cirrhotic diseases, immune deficiencies, eye diseases, orthopedic trauma, psychological depression, allergic and bronchial asthma, endocrinological disorders, rheumatism, arthritis, arthrosis, some dermatological diseases, chronic renal failure, benign tumors, prostate adenopathy and many more.
Media-related activities:
1993-2001: Adrian Florea was in permanent contact with a wide public for over seven years, as the host of a weekly radio show, "The Qigong Lesson", broadcast by Radio Uniplus;
1997-1999: hosted a weekly show on the News Channel of the National Radio Station;
1993-2002: has been the subject of numerous feature reports and interviews on Traditional Chinese Medicine and the activity of the foundation. Some highlights: Tele 7abc (a five-episode series on Qitaky Qigong), TV SIGMA (several one-hour shows on various TCM-related topics), Pro TV (several interviews in the medical column of the morning show "Buna dimineata"), Acasa (feature reports presented in the "Martial Arts" series), Antena 1 (several invitations to the talk show "Schimbul de noapte" and later "O sansa pentru fiecare", hosted by Adrian Paunescu, as well as to "Noaptea tarziu cu Mircea Badea"), National Romanian TV Station TVR (interviews), several local TV stations: SYMBOL Bacau, Cinemar Baia Mare, Tele M Piatra Neamt;
1993-2002: constant contributor to the dailies "Libertatea" and "Informatia de pranz" with weekly columns on TCM; a large number of interviews and articles about or by Adrian Florea in a long list of publications: Romania libera, Formula As, 2000 Plus, Privirea, Magazin, Curierul sanatatii, Cronica Romana, Claudia, Curierul de Arges, Monitorul de Bacau, Crisana de Oradea, Ora, Blitz Magazin, Revista fenomenelor astro-paranormale and many more.
