Feng Shui
Can all this be true?!
My initial plan about making this presentation of Feng Shui was to go straight to the heart of the matter and offer you some practical advice, like the many people who have written books on this subject so far. But then, trying to put myself in your shoes, I realized I would have been running the risk of being put to the wall by skeptics and by firm believers in modern science for my giving advice unsupported by reasoned explanations, leaving room for the idea that all this is nothing but a big bunch of Chinese superstition...
However, are we dealing with nothing but a bunch of superstitions dissimulated under the precious vocabulary of a discipline that is merely attempting to deceive us all with hundreds of alluring and strange suggestions? Wherever we may be in the world, we come across lots of superstitions, that scholars have tried - and have often also managed! - to dismantle. It is also true, however, that many of the concepts the scholars were bent on dismantling eventually turned out to be irrefutable realities of the present. For instance, it was not easy for them to accept that various objects could materialize out of...nothing; the disbelief survived until a space probe called "Viking" managed to travel beyond our solar system and send back images showing a star being born out of... VOID SPACE!!! Analyzing the intimate space of the atomic nucleus, physicists were surprised to find that Pi mesons appeared out of ... nothing (!!) and returned there. This was what allowed them to understand the intimate mechanisms of the Universe, whereby matter is created from energy, and can be then reconverted into energy. These phenomena led scholars to the conclusion that the Universe is an immense data base containing information well organized into complex and precise programs (that are actually its basic operating laws) that regulate the production of phenomena and that are also characterized by a certain amount of flexibility as far as their succession in time is concerned. The processes are so very complex, that it is impossible for us to understand and reproduce them all.
Feng Shui relies heavily on Chinese astrology. We find, therefore, that any expert assessment is based on the birthdays of the people related to the home or the business premises under study. The first element to calculate is the Pa tzu number - one of the eight potential numbers that can be attributed to any person. This number will be the basis for determining the four beneficial and the four maleficent cardinal points. There are two sets of directions, according to which a person is said to belong to either the Western Life or the Eastern life, i.e.: the group N, E, SE and S belong to the Eastern life, while the group NE, NW, W and SW - to the Western life. Continuing from here, we can find out the Element a person belongs to, the colour associated to that person and the zodiacal animal... We already have a lot of data that may appear to make no sense, or at least to have no logical explanation within the confines of official science.
And yet, one would be wrong to stop at that!
Why are we interested in people's birthdays in Feng Shui? Well, because in every individual moment in the cycles of the universe, a variety of interactions occur between various stars and the Earth, as well as between the new-born baby and the combination of those interactions. Since the human energy system feeds on qi (the Dragon's cosmic breath, as the Chinese call it), this "our daily bread" is characterized by a certain quality on the day of our birth, thus influencing our individual physical, psychological and intellectual evolution. Starting out from the assumption that the Universe worked according to precise mathematical laws, ancient Chinese scholars assigned numbers to various states of energy or to combinations thereof. This is why, in Feng Shui, the year of birth will be the basis for calculating an identification number, called Patzu - one of the eight potential numbers, or one of the eight potential directions on the compass. Along each of these directions, the magnetic field lines of the Earth work in specific ways, different from all the others, under the influence of gravitons, i.e. the particles that demonstrate the energetic-gravitational effect of the geological components of geographical locations, as well as under the influence of the Hartman radiation grid (generated by the mass of hot lava in the Earth core). This will allow us to find out what directions are beneficial for us, since they are in perfect harmony with the qi flow along our meridians, while others are not, since they intersect our qi flow in a harmful way, generating behavioural and health disorders and - consequently - affecting our ability to make important decisions in life. This is how we could translate, then, the meaning of the Patzu number and of the four main points on the compass.
The influence exerted by the orientations on the compass interact with the five fundamental states of energy in the Universe: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. These five states can be associated with a variety of meanings and factors; let us take colour now as one of these important factors. If each person can be assigned to one of the five categories, then we can immediately know what colour is beneficial to that person. Colours are a type of vibrations, whose frequencies are well known. If individuals fail to take into account the colour that is appropriate for them (according to their personal data), they may run the risk of being "attacked" by a frequency that may dominate or destroy them by the resonance effect. People naturally tend to prefer specific colours, but if they insist on using certain colours - that fail to be in harmony with the others - this may lead to severe diseases or mental disorders that may influence their path in life, leading to emotional or financial distress, to failure of relationships or family life.
Another important factor would be the animals in the zodiac, and the Chinese tradition has established a range of twelve such animals. They stand for human types, who have typical responses to outside influence or to their own experiences. By corroborating all the above data with the combination of zodiac animals, one may accurately identify the effects of the orientation in space of specific elements in a construction, in the decoration of a room, the orientation of a bed or desk. When a person's energy meridians come into conflict with the field lines generated by the various orientations, negative effects are bound to appear, sooner or later.
If you manage to achieve a correct understanding of all of the above - as well as of many more things - you will no longer fear that Feng Shui might be a mere superstition, but you will be capable of perceiving it as a true Art of curing body and soul by creating an adequate environment. So, there is but one thing left for me to say: take a deep breath! the therapy begins!
