Frequently asked questions
Why should I practice Qigong?
Qigong provides concrete and easy-to-acquire solutions for preventing all types of disorders and diseases, for combating the effects of stress and recovering from illness. Qigong is also an excellent method for improving your intellectual and creative potential. Nowadays, Qigong has also become a complementary form of training included in the overall training program of top athletes. This has become the usual practice in countries such as Japan, China, Korea, Vietnam, but also the US, Canada, Germany and France. One could say that, although its history goes back almost 8000 years, Qigong is a discipline ahead of the times, ahead of the progress in human society.
What is the difference between Qigong and Yoga or the martial arts?
Qigong calls to social integration, creativity and improved collective welfare as a result of individual performance. The goal of Qigong is to make individual progress beneficial to the entire community.
Qigong cultivates sound health by means of dynamic exercises, that also appear to be calm and gentle, and that can be converted, whenever that becomes necessary, into most effective self-defense techniques.
Some of the Qigong and Yoga practices appear to be quite similar, a good example in point being the breathing technique. However, the vast majority of the exercises are particular to Qigong, more specifically to the Qitaky style, a style recognized by the World Qigong Federation.
What is the connection between Qigong and religion?
Qigong is a lay philosophical system that stimulates the practitioners' spiritual development, allowing them full freedom of belief and action according to their own faith. Qigong can be practiced by anyone, irrespective of religion or ethnic origin.
